Tonight, James DeGale will be looking to make history.

DeGale will be looking t become the first British Olympic Gold medal winner to claim a professional world title.

Since the end of World War II, British boxers have had an Olympic Gold medal hung around their necks but none have ever entered the professional ranks and gone on to win a professional world title.

The closest we?ve come is with Chris Finnegan and Audley Harrison, both of whom actually fought for a world title.

Finnegan won gold at the 1968 Mexico Olympics and progressed to fighting for the world light-heavyweight title, in 1972. However, Finnegan came up against the legend that is Bob Foster and was beaten.

Fast forward to 2010 and Audley Harrison, who won Gold in 2000, was given the chance to claim the WBA world heavyweight title when he was matched up against another British fighter, David Haye. But Harrison also failed, after getting knocked out by Haye.

Can James DeGale make history tonight?

Or will, some 10 months down the line, Anthony Joshua become the first?
