The big promotion at the O2 Arena, in London, scheduled for December 12th and headlined by the Anthony Joshua v Dillian Whyte contest is starting to see the under-card being put in place.
It has been confirmed today that the unbeaten Luke Campbell, who has won all twelve of his professional contests, winning ten by knockout, will feature on the bill.
Twenty-seven year old Campbell, who is ranked #8 by the WBC and #10 by the IBF, is looking to progress towards a world title fight in the very near future.
In his last fight, up in Hull, in a battle of two Hull fighters, Campbell stopped Tommy Coyle in the tenth round, but it appears that Campbell has his eyes on a world title holder that beat another British fighter recently.
The champion in Campbell?s sights is the WBC lightweight champion Jorge Linares.
Linares held on to his title when he took on Kevin Mitchell when the Londoners eye damage proved to be too much for him to continue.
Discussing his plans, Campbell has remarked,
?Of course he Linares is on the radar. Anyone who?s got a world title belt is on my radar.
?For me, he is probably the lightweight that stands out in world boxing the most at the minute. He?s a three-weight world champion. I was gutted for Kevin Mitchell because I wanted him to win but he put Linares down. It was unfortunate his eye swelled up. A rematch could be different.?
No opponent has been named for Campbell?s appearance at the O2 Arena on 12th December as of yet, but as soon as it is we?ll report further.
