The big shock of the night, at the 02 Arena came in a lightweight fight between Luke Campbell and the French fighter Yvan Mendy.

Campbell went into the fight on the back of 12 straight wins in his professional career but couldn?t keep the game Mendy at bay.

In fact Mendy seemed to be relishing the challenge and had Campbell on the canvas in the fifth round.

The fight, deemed close by many pundits, saw the Frenchman take the honours on a split decision with the judges scoring it as:

? 115-112 (in favour of Mendy)
? 115-113 (in favour of Campbell)
? 115-112 (in favour of Mendy)

After the fight the disappointed 28-year old had this to say,

?I feel as though I won the fight. I was catching him a lot to the head and body. That?s the first time I?ve done 12 rounds ? I feel as though I made a few mistakes in there.?

There is time for Campbell to come again but last night must serve as a huge wake-up call for the 2012 Olympic gold medallist.
