With a huge fight against Daniel Brizuela coming up next month, in his home city of Hull our 2012 Olympic gold medal winner, Luke Campbell fought on the Wembley under-card last night.
In his eighth professional contest Campbell was pitched in against a very durable Pole in the shape of Krzysztof Szot.
Szot, no stranger to fighting in this country, had never been stopped in his professional career and was expected to take Campbell the distance.
However, Campbell had other ideas and produced a stunning performance stopping the Polish fighter in the seventh round.
Szot was caught with flush on the chin by a punch and forced to drop to one knee to gather his senses.
Unfortunately for Szot there was too much time left in the round and a flurry of blows saw the referee step in to stop the fight.
?He’s a very tough opponent – he takes everyone the distance.?
?He’s a very experienced, tough guy and I wasn’t expecting to get the stoppage. I was expecting to get the rounds in. I actually managed to do both, which is great.?
Campbell is starting to look the business as he gets more experience and the forthcoming fight with Daniel Brizuela should be a real thriller.
