Luke Campbell came up against a potentially tricky opponent in Daniel Brizuela at the weekend but at the Hull Ice Arena he produced another impressive with.
In only his ninth professional fight he produced what many feel was his ‘best’ and most ‘dominate’ fight to date with his barrage of blows in the fifth leading to referee Inigo Barrabas stepping in to end the fight in the fifth round.
Campbell looked like he would end the fight really early but wasn’t able to build on that early dominance but did end it in the fifth with the support he got somewhat overwhelming for him as he told Sky Sports after the fight.
‘I’m a bit overwhelmed with the crowd and the support I have got here tonight. Hopefully I can come back and put on another great performance in Hull.’
Brizuela caused some problems but Campbell was always in control against the Argentine really.
Campbell paid tribute to his opponent, knowing he would be in for a battle before all the way, given the fight he had with his close friend Tommy Coyle previously, with him left delighted to finish the fight in the manor he did and as relatively early as he did.
‘He’s a very tough kid.
‘He was last here with Tommy Coyle and that was fight of the year. I knew what I was up against.
‘He was coming to win, has a very good record and is very experienced. For me to go in there and do that I am really happy with myself.’
