In Hull last night, our Olympic gold medallist, Luke Campbell continued his fine start to his professional career by making it three wins out of three.

Having stopped his first two opponents in the first round, it was expected that Lee Connelly would give Campbell a sterner test. Although Connelly had only won two of his seven fights, he?d never been stopped and was seen as a durable opponent.

That is exactly as it turned out in this six round fight with Connelly taking Campbell to the fifth round before finally succumbing to Campbell?s relentless attacks.

Campbell, 26 years of age, looked confident in the opening stages, looking for his shots rather than trying to swamp his opponent with a barrage whereby energy would have been expended with non-scoring shots.

As the rounds wore on, Campbell was in full control and the fifth round stoppage was well earned.

Campbell will now have a very short rest before returning to the gym to fight on what is going to be an epic night, on November 23rd, when Carl Froch and George Groves engage in pugilistic combat.
