Although the Smith family may have experienced disappointment in Germany last weekend when Paul was disgracefully treated by the judges in his WBO world title fight with Arthur Abraham, young Callum Smith restored some family pride in Leeds last night.
Callum, biding time before he gets his chance at the higher level his skills deserve, was matched against Rafael Sosa Pintos in a super-middleweight contest.
Clearly a class above his opponent, Smith took his time to wear down Pintos before, in the third round; a flurry of punches saw the fight stopped.
However, boxing at the same weight as his brother Paul, it looks as if Callum?s promoters might have to tread a parallel path to prevent something Mrs Smith would dread, a family conflict.
