Perhaps the toughest fight at the Liverpool Echo Arena last night was one on the undercard that featured the Liverpool super-middleweight Callum Smith.

Smith was pitched in against the super-tough Vladine Biosse, an opponent that had a reputation for being very resilient.

Entering the ring with a string of knockouts behind him, Smith took the fight to Biosse but was unable to drop the gallant challenger. At times it defied reasoning why Biosse wasn?t hitting the canvas but he simply shrugged off what looked to be devastating punches to mount fight-backs of his own.

As the fight entered the latter stages it appeared that Smith accepted that he wasn?t going to stop Biosse and that he?d have to settle for a points decision, a decision that duly went in his favour with the judges scoring the contest,

It remains to be seen who Callum Smith fights next in a division that contains the likes of Carl Froch, George Groves and James DeGale.
