On 6th March Paul Butler will attempt to make history.

The 26 year-old has been presented with a golden opportunity to become a two-weight world champion, if he is successful he will become the first Briton in over 100 years to drop down a weight and win a second world title.

Back in June, Butler picked up the IBF bantamweight title but decided to relinquish it to return to the super-flyweight ranks.

Unbeaten in his professional career, it wasn?t thought it would be long before Butler would be granted a crack at a world title at that weight and on the aforementioned date Butler will go head-to-head with the South African, Zolani Tete at the Liverpool Echo Arena.

Tete claimed the vacant belt back in July and has a record that reads 22-3. His defence against Butler will be the South African’s first visit to the United Kingdom.

It is for us, definitely a date to put in our diary!
