On the under-card of the huge Frampton v Quigg promotion at the MEN Arena, in Manchester, was a fight for the vacant British light-heavyweight title.

It featured two unbeaten 27-year-old fighters in Hosea Burton and Miles Shinkwin, with the former being from Manchester (and related to Tyson Fury) and the latter from Hertfordshire.

In a fight that was to last six rounds, it ebbed one way and then the other. Shinkwin started well, although his attacks were a little on the crude side, with Burton looking a bit nervous.

However, Burton was soon in the swing of things and soon had Shinkwin on the canvas, although the Hertfordshire fighter wasn?t seriously hurt with it being more of a knockdown.

Shinkwin for the remainder of the round shipped some heavy punishment as Burton sought to finish the fight off, but the Hertfordshire fighter hung on in there.

Burton, after that attack seemed to be tiring and with blood pouring from his nose, was being pushed back the advancing Shinkwin.

But, as we entered the sixth round, Burton caught Shinkwin with a huge punch that saw Shinkwin bounce off the ropes and with legs that were far from steady leaving the referee with no alternative other than to stop the fight.

Interviewed after the fight and with Tyson Fury watching from ringside, an emotional Burton promised to defend the Lonsdale belt and make it his own.

A more than decent fight between two honest fighters and a new British light-heavyweight champion in the shape of Hosea Burton.
