After a lull in the domestic boxing action, the serious stuff returns next weekend when, on Saturday, Ricky Burns puts his WBO lightweight title on the line.

At the Scottish Exhibition Centre, in Glasgow, Burns will be taking on a challenger, in the shape of the Mexican Raymundo Beltran.

Burns, with a record of 36-2 with 11 knockouts, will be taking on a challenger who has a record of 28-6 with 17 knockouts.

However, memories are still fresh of how Burns, in his last fight, struggled against Jose Gonzalez, only stopping his man late-on after looking as if he was about to surrender his belt.

Beltran, we?re led to believe, is an all action fighter who can punch with both hands and who likes to come forward. Burns will need to use all his skills in this one if those dreams of fighting in the US, against big-name opponents, are to be realized.

It promises to be a very interesting Saturday night!
