Since his recent loss, at the hands of Dejan Zlaticanin, there have been numerous column inches dedicated to the future of Ricky Burns.

The Scottish fighter, on the back of two successive defeats and a controversial draw, has already been castigated as not being world-class anymore and that domestic fights are his only way forward, whilst others have implied that now is the time to, simply, step away from the ring and call it a day.

However his promoter, Eddie Hearn, has intimated that another solution may be at hand.

Hearn wants Burns to move up a division remaking that 31 year-old Burns has been at lightweight for far too long and that the extra poundage might be beneficial. Sat here in the editorial chair I?m little wary that going in against opponents at the next weight up would sound the death knell for Burns who, to be honest, has looked as if he can be caught far too easily with big punches these days!
