It appears that Scotland?s Ricky Burns is set to fight for the world title.
Burns, who is a former two division world title holder, is set to take on Michele Di Rocco for what is deemed the vacant WBA ?regular? light-welterweight title.
We understand that discussions are well advanced for the fight to happen and Burns promoter, Eddie Hearn, is putting the finishing touches to it.
If the fight does materialize it will give Burns a wonderful opportunity to resurrect his career big-time, after it had faltered in recent ties.
However, Di Rocco will be a formidable opponent, he is ranked #2 by the WBA and has a record that reads 40-1-1 with 18 of those wins coming by way of knockout, whereas Burns has a record that reads 39-5-1 with 13 wins coming by knockout.
Age-wise the pair are pretty similar with Burns being thirty-two and Di Rocco thirty-three, but if Hearn can get the fight on Scottish soil, Burns might just have the edge.
