News has reached us that one of Boxing?s colourful characters is currently recuperating from a heart attack.

Joe Bugner, who took the British heavyweight crown off of Henry Cooper, thereby far from endearing himself to the British public and a fighter who shared the ring with Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier before, late in his career fighting Frank Bruno at White Hart Lane, is in a hospital on Queensland?s Gold Coast.

Now 64 years of age, it would appear that Bugner, affectionately known as Aussie Joe by the Australian public, hasn?t been looking after himself after being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last year, but has declared,

?I?m not about to hang my gloves up.?

?I?m 64 but there?s still a few years left in me yet.?

?I?ve just got to be careful with what I eat and drink.?

?Any heart attack is serious but I?m not about to give up on my life.?

Our best wishes go to Joe as he hits the road to recovery.
