On the under-card of the Joshua v Takem promotion, in Cardiff, the Enfield fighter Frank Buglioni was making a defence of his British light-heavyweight title.
Buglioni was matched with Craig Richards, who took the fight at short notice after the original challenger was forced to pull out with an illness that hospitalised him.
In a fight that was entertaining, Richards took Buglioni the full twelve rounds, although it was clear that the champions was the better fighter throughout the fight, landing the cleaner and the harder shots.
With the fighters waiting for the score-cards to be announced, the judges scored the fight:
? 117 ? 111
? 116 ? 113
? 117 ? 111
all in favour of Buglioni.
Buglioni, who is looking to win the Lonsdale belt outright, was cut in the 11th round, with a cut from a previous bout re-opening, but was never in serious trouble.
Richards gave a game display though and deserves credit for taking the fight at short-notice.
Buglioni?s next fight could be against Hosea Burton, the mandatory challenger for the belt, in what will be a re-match of the fight in which Buglioni beat Burton to win the British light-heavyweight title.
It could be a fight to enjoy!
