At the Wembley Arena last night Frank Buglioni put on a brave display taking on the Russian Fedor Chudinov for the WBA super-middleweight title.

Sadly for Buglioni his bid was to end in failure with the Russian deservedly taking the verdict on the score-cards of all three judges, the verdicts being:-

? 120-106
? 118-108
? 117-109

From the first bell Buglioni gave his all but Chudinov was too slick an operator and punching too hard for Buglioni to get a strong foot-hold in the contest.

Buglioni?s supporters though their man had gotten a crucial breakthrough around round six when Chudnov was sent crashing from a fearsome head-shot, unfortunately the blow was landed after the bell and Buglioni was deducted two points for his misdemeanour.

In the latter rounds the challenger was shipping a lot of punishment and there may have been a case for either the corner or the referee to stop the contest, but to his credit Buglioni heard the final bell.

Talking to the media after the bout, Buglioni had this to say,

‘I gave it my best but the better man won on the night.

‘He’s a very good all-round fighter. I’d love to fight him again.’

Buglioni may have been beaten but the manner in which he fought may well have opened up other opportunities in the months to come.
