Frank Bruno will always be a hero of mine.

Watching him claim that world title after coming so close previously was a night I?ll never forget.

But recent times haven?t been good for Frank, the ex-boxer, now 54-years-of-age, has battled metal health issues.

Sadly these mental health issues saw Bruno sectioned under the Mental Health Act with a subsequent diagnosis that Bruno had bipolar disorder.

In all Frank has spent three spells sectioned but continues to lead a crusade to get ex-boxers help with mental illness issues.

Talking about the subject to the media, Frank has remarked,

?Twenty years ago understanding of mental health was in its infancy stages. It was the silent illness that people did not talk about.

?I am not aware of anyone in boxing who is dealing with mental health issues, treatments or progress.

?As one of the few sports people who have been vocal about mental health issues I look forward to hearing of progress that anyone is making. There is still a long way to go.?

Fair points there Frank, so how about if the British Boxing Board of Control, what is being done?
