Growing up to love the sport I now consider to be part of my life, my first hero was Frank Bruno.

Bruno not only captured my heart but also that of the nation as he headed towards world title glory.

I can remember that night, at Wembley Stadium, when, after paying an absolute fortune for a ticket to see Frank take on the American fighter, Tim Witherspoon, I was devastated when he came up short, being stopped by Terrible Tim in the later rounds.

I can recall Frank hitting Mike Tyson as hard as he?s been hit in his life, rocking the heavyweight who I believe was the best of his and many an era but failing to push on and take Tyson out.

I remember when, finally, against Oliver McCall, at that same Wembley Stadium, Frank finally got his hands on a world title belt and the nation rejoiced.

Since retiring from boxing, Frank has suffered mental health problems and this morning I was devastated that, after a severe bout of depression, Frank has been, once again taken into care.

In recent times Frank has done so much to raise awareness of mental health problems and here at Vital Boxing our thoughts are with Frank as, once again, he faces a lonely battle against a bipolar disorder that has blighted his life.

All the best Frank from the editorial chair at Vital Boxing.
