It seems that despite his protestations to the contrary, the Australian boxer, Lucas Browne, is to have a failed drugs test against his name.

Browne, fighting for the WBA version of the heavyweight title against Ruslan Chagaev in Russia, stopped his opponent in the 10th round, thereby becoming the first heavyweight champion Australia has produced.

However, after the fight Browne tested positive for the banned substance Clenbuterol.

Despite protesting his innocence and successfully passing a lie detector test declaring his innocence the World Boxing Association have stripped Lucas Browne of his world title and have banned the unbeaten Australian for a six month period.

As for the WBA heavyweight title, he WBA have given Chagaev a period of 120 days to negotiate terms for a bout against Fres Oquendo to decide who becomes the WBA heavyweight champion of the world.
