Down in Victoria, Australia last night, the Australian heavyweight hoping to gate-crash the world title scene, scored his twenty-fourth win of his career.

Fighting a late substitute in the shape of the 38-year-old journeyman, Julius Long, Lucas ?Big Daddy? Browne made hard work of defeating his taller opponent.

Long entered the ring with a record that read 16-18 but was to be stopped in round nine.

Browne has demonstrated his power in the 8th round by putting Long on the canvas but the 36-year-old Australian, ranked #3 by the WBA, couldn?t finish the fight before Long was saved by the bell.

The victory maintains the Australian?s unbeaten record but he needs to produce something against a rated opponent to convince me he has the credentials to trouble the big guns of a division that is starting to look attractive again due to the emergence of Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua on the British scene.
