The heavyweight division has certainly sprung into life recently.
With the charismatic Deontay Wilder grabbing a version of the title and with Tyson Fury waiting to take on Wladimir Klitschko seeking his date with destiny, news has broken that another fighter has also been given a chance to reach out and get entered into the history books.
The Australian fighter, Lucas Browne, has been granted mandatory status when it comes to the WBA title held by Ruslan Chagaev.
Browne has been part of the Ricky Hatton camp since 2012 and has, courtesy of 19 stoppages in 22 fights, climbed from #15 in the rankings to #1.
Speaking about his charge getting a world title fight, Ricky Hatton has remarked to the media,
?I?m delighted that Lucas has been made the WBA?s mandatory challenger.
?Chagaev has shown that he?s one of the best heavyweights around, but Lucas is a massive puncher and can knock him out.
?Australia has never had a world champion at heavyweight so this is a chance for Lucas to make history and he?s going to grab it with both hands.?
We understand that both camps have been given thirty days to negotiate the fight date for what could be a lively affair.
