After seeing off the challenge of Frankie Gavin, thereby making it two successful defences of the IBF welterweight belt he took off of Shawn Porter, Kell Brook is eyeing up opponents for his third defence.
The Sheffield fighter who now has a record that reads 35-0, with 24 coming by way of knockout, is being heavily tipped to face Brandon Rios on September 12th at the O2 Arena in London. Rios will arrive with a pretty decent record that reads 33-2-1 with 24 of his wins coming by way of knockout.
However, those plans will be immediately ditched if Brook gets the dream fight he believes he is entitled to as the IBF welterweight title holder, a fight against Floyd Mayweather Junior, with Brook remarking,
?I?d love to take the task of beating Floyd Mayweather. I?m going to be ready for September 12 whether it?s Rios or Mayweather,?
?If I were him [Mayweather], I?d keep well away from me. I am hungry and I want to take that zero and turn it in to a one.?
Personally I reckon Brook will be fighting Rios, Brook may have the bargaining tool of that IBF belt but he?s not the household name, big attraction Mayweather needs for what he insists will be his last fight.
