The incident, in Tenerife, that has seen our IBF world title holder Kell Brook hospitalized, after being stabbed, could have ramifications with regards to his first defence of his belt.

Brook was supposed to make that first defence of his belt on December 6th, in his home town of Sheffield against an, as of yet, unnamed opponent. The fight was meant to be a prelude to an all-British showdown, next year between Brook and his adversary Amir Khan.

However, the operation Brook required on his left leg, to repair the damage caused by the stabbing has left the Yorkshire fighter facing a rehabilitation period that may well prevent him slotting into his training programme ahead of the reference fight.

Although it is probably early days, a cancellation of Brook?s first title defence could also see the long awaited cruiserweight clash between Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew affected. The clash was meant to be on the under-card, but there is now the possibility that the fight could be shifted back to Liverpool, a city that was first suggested as the place where it would take place.

We?ll keep you notified with regards to anything we hear on the subject matter!
