One of our leading tabloid publications was championing the suggestion that Sheffield?s Kell Brook was edging very close to a bout with Manny Pacquiao.

Although Brook was kind of hoping that Floyd Mayweather would fancy taking him on to unify the welterweight titles, the fact that Mayweather has so the story goes, vacated those belts, confused the issue.

But the scenario given this morning infers that if Brook can get past the challenge of Frankie Gavin and then beat Brandon Rios then the door will be open for Brook to take on Manny Pacquiao with his promoter, Bob Arum, quoting as having remarked,

?Will that lead to Pacquiao? Absolutely.?

But, considering it has been announced that Pacquiao, following shoulder surgery, will be out for twelve months, it could be this time next year that Brook gets in the ring with a legend.
