Talk of a showdown with Khan has surfaced again.
Looking to grab the IBF welterweight belt from Shawn Porter in the early hours of Sunday 17th August, over in the USA, Kell Brook is already looking forward to another bout.
It would appear that Brook is still chasing a domestic showdown with Amir Khan. In doing so Brook is trying to promote a fight with the Bolton fighter as something that could be as big as the recent bouts between Carl Froch and George Groves.
Championing the suggestion, Brook has remarked from his stateside training camp,
?I believe so (that it can be like Froch-Groves). A win over Porter gives me a world title and opens all the doors at the elite level. I think everyone would grab onto the Khan fight and it will be huge like Groves-Froch because there is no love lost between us?.
Looking at their records, Brook has 32 wins and no defeats with 22 of those wins coming by way of knockout whilst Khan has a record of 29 wins and 3 defeats with 19 coming by way of knockout.
However, whilst Brook has remained unbeaten I?d suggest that Khan has faced much stiffer opposition in his career. As for the ?no love lost? between them, I?m of the opinion that Brook?s dislike of Khan exceeds that which Khan may feel for Brook.
Talk of it being a Froch v Groves situation though is somewhat misplaced; I?m not quite sure whether Brook has captured the imagination of the British boxing public yet. But I may be wrong, like I sometimes am!
Brook?s at It Again!
