The last few days has seen speculation being aired that, perhaps, all was not well when it came to the reported fight between Kell Brook and Shawn Porter taking place.

Amongst the many inferences doing the rounds was that the fight didn?t have the stature to top a promotion, even if it is between the current holder of the IBF welterweight crown and the mandatory #1 challenger.

Much of this speculation had come about due to the fact that Brook hadn?t fought in America and the American fight public might be reluctant to fill out the nominated venue.

If that was the case there was a definite chance that Brook would be facing world title fight heartbreak for a third time with two encounters with Devon Alexander falling through due to injury.

But, yesterday, confirmation came through that a date for the fight has been set with Brook set to take on Porter on August 16th at the StubHub Centre in Carson City, California.

The fight has all the makings of a classic, Porter has a record of 24-0-1 with 15 by way of knockout whilst Brook will enter the ring with an unbeaten record that reads 32-0 with 22 by way of knockout.

If Brook is going to grasp the world title belt he craves so much he?s going to have to go up against Porter with a clear game plan and seize the moment.

Can he do it?

Yes, I sincerely think he can and then we might, sometime next year, see a match-up against his arch-rival Amir Khan, although Amir may feel he has bigger fish to chase!
