Wants Amir Khan in June

Pride of Sheffield Kell Brook last night retained his IBF welterweight title in a throbbing Motorpoint Arena stopping Canadian-based Romanian Jo Jo Dan at the end of round four.

It was fast and furious from the off with Brook looking to all the world like a hand-grenade waiting to explode.

And explode he did in round two with a right uppercut that had Dan taking a knee. As the fight resumed Dan was still struggling to regain his senses when a straight right from the champion this time floored the challenger for an eight count.

How Jo Jo survived the next round only he can tell you; but in round four it was all over, the Romanian going for glory, a wild swing finding nothing but air while his face found a nasty Brook left hook.

The ringing Dan heard in his ears was the bell ending the round and saving him from further punishment.

Dan?s cornermen had the same idea: when the badly hurt Romanian finished rolling on the canvas and was shown to his stool, they signaled to ref Earl Brown that their man was done.

Kell Brook celebrated amid the fan delirium asking the adoring crowd, ?Who do you want to see me fight?? Answer? Amir Khan of course. Brook?s manager Barry Hearn already has Wembley pencilled in for June 13th .

But, as this column has already predicted – and the Bolton-born Pakistani today confirmed – all signs indicate that Khan will decline the invitation.
