After getting the verdict against Shawn Porter, Kell Brook is preparing for his first defence, against the #1 IBF contender, Jo Jo Dan on March 28th at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield.
Although Jo Jo Dan has talked up his chances of dethroning the IBF champion, Brook is expected to retain his belt, most probably in a comfortable fashion.
However, once Brook has made that first defence his intentions are to get involved in the mega-fights that are available in the welterweight division with Brook remarking to the media,
?I?m not looking past Jo Jo I know he will bring the heat but I want to get this mandatory defence done and then target those mega-fights that are out there in the division.
?I know he feels he worked so hard to get into the mandatory position just like I did, but I will be working twice as hard to keep the belt that I earned. After May 2nd, there will only be two champions in the division?myself and Floyd or Manny. I want to unify this division in style. I?m coming for them all.?
Admirable comments from the champion but you get the feeling whoever wins between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao might have other ideas as to where their careers head after that fight with Brook forced to, quite possibly, bide his time.
