In his last two fights, Kell Brook has suffered the heartache of losing whilst also picking up two serious eye-injuries.
After stepping up two weight divisions to take on the legend that is Gennady Golovkin, Brook required an operation to fix a fractured right-eye socket.
In his last fight, against Errol Spence Jnr, having dropped back down to welterweight, Brook was stopped by the American fighter and required an operation to repair a fractured left-eye socket.
However, the 31-year-old Sheffield fighter is to fight on and wants to have another fight before the end of the year.
Talking to the media, Brook is quoted as having remarked,
‘I will talk to my team in the coming weeks about what we can do next and I am looking to get back into camp this summer.
‘The last scan I had revealed the healing has started really well and the bone already looks strong.
‘So I expect to make a full recovery and I want to fight again in 2017.’
Before those two losses, Brook had won all thirty-six of his previous bouts, but the next fight is of paramount importance, Brook cannot afford a third straight defeat on the bounce.
All credit to the Sheffield man for fighting on though.
