It seems almost certain that Kell Brook?s planned defence of his IBF welterweight title against Brandon Rios is off.

Earlier this month we had reported that the negotiations had encountered difficulties and that a stalemate had been reached with regards to the fight going ahead on September 12th.

The problems stem over the insertion of a re-match clause, with one side or the other refusing to budge.

Speaking about the difficulty, Eddie Hearn has been honest to admit that it,

?Looks like the fight is dead??

If that is the case it would be a shame.

Since winning the IBF title, in the US, against Shawn Porter, Brook has faced accusations that he has yet to defend the belt against anyone of any note.

If Brook is to cement his place amongst the greats of the division, then a bout against Brandon Rios would have been a good place to start, now we?re left to ponder over who Brook will fight next and when.
