At the Sheffield Arena last night, Sheffield?s Kell Brook made a successful defence of his IBF world welterweight title.
Ahead of the fight many pundits had questioned the validity of Brook?s opponent, Kevin Bizier, a fighter who had already been stopped twice by Jo Jo Dan, a fighter Brook had stopped inside four rounds in a previous defence.
But it should be remembered that Brook had no choice other than to fight Bizier with the Canadian being installed by the IBF as their mandatory challenger.
As it turned out, the fight was the one-sided affair we feared with Brook, looking in fine shape, stopping Bizier inside two rounds.
Bizier just wasn?t in the same league as the IBF world title holder and from the first bell Brook was on top of his opponent quickly opening up a cut above the Canadian?s eye in the first minute.
With Bizier out-classed the fight was stopped with just forty-five seconds of the second round remaining when Brook had Bizier on the canvas for a second time.
After the fight Brook remarked,
‘I want the big fights now.?
That may be the case but I?d suggest that on the form he showed last night most of the top fighters might be a little wary of taking on a focussed Brook.
