Brook picks up a rib injury in training.
Those who were eagerly anticipating the IBF world welterweight title fight between Kell Brook and Diego Chaves will be disappointed to learn that the bout scheduled for Saturday 24th October has been cancelled.
Brook?s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has confirmed that Brook has picked up a rib injury in sparring, an injury that required the champion to be taken to hospital.
Talking about the postponement, Hearn has remarked,
‘Kell was desperate to fight but it was impossible.
‘We’ll look to reschedule the bout for the end of the year.’
However, the promotion in Sheffield, will go ahead.
Chris Eubank Junior, making his first appearance with Hearn as his promoter, will assume top of the bill status with his fight against the American Tony Jeter, with Eubank Junior looking to retain his WBA interim middleweight contest.
