Broner Stripped of WBA Lightweight Belt

Tonight, across the pond, Ashley Theoplane should have been fighting Adrien Broner for the WBA lightweight title.

Well that was the plan with the fight set to take place in Washington.

However, a commotion at the weigh-in saw the champion, Broner, fail to make the weight

The American fighter scaled 140.4 pounds meaning he had to lose 0-4 pounds pretty quick.

But, instead of doing his utmost to shed the extra weight, Broner never returned to the scales and was, subsequently, stripped of his belt by the WBA.

We understand that amidst all the kerfuffle the fight will still go-ahead but with the stipulation that the WBA lightweight title can only be won by Ashley Theoplane, a British fighter who campaign sin the US.
