Across the pond, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the colourful and controversial Adrien Broner was back in action last night.
At the Cintas Centre, Broner took on Adrian Granados in a ten-round fight.
After ten rounds the verdict, by a split decision, was given to Broner, with the three judges scoring the fight:
? 97 ? 93 (for Broner)
? 97 ? 93 (for Granados)
? 96 ? 94 (for Broner)
The win takes Broner?s career record to 33-2 with 24 wins by knockout whilst Granados sees his record slip to 18-5-2 with 12 wins coming by way of stoppage.
But although Broner was happy to be given the verdict, it was interetsing to hear the reaction from the crowd.
In what was basically a home-town fight for Broner, the crowd let the boxer know in no uncertain terms who they thought was the winner, booing Broner throughout his whole post-fight ring interview.
Talking about the fight, Broner remarked,
?This was an easy one for me.
?Adrian Granados is a world class fighter. I hurt my left hand in the 1st round. From there my left hand wasn?t no good. That?s why I had to stay on the inside.?
Whilst Granados had this to say,
?I thought I outworked him. I know it wasn?t a pretty fight. Let?s do it again. Let?s do it in my house?
Granados hose being Chicago, to which Broner snapped back,
?This is business. I ain?t going back to Chicago. I?m taking my career seriously.?
Broner, as problematic and as controversial as ever.
