The minute it was announced that following his British middleweight title fight with Chris Eubank Jnr, Nick Blackwell had been placed in an induced coma, there were fears his career was over.

Thankfully Blackwell has made a good recovery and looks to be heading back to full health.

However, those fears about his Boxing career being over have now been realised with Blackwell confirming, in a public statement,

?That?s me done. I can?t put my friends, family and myself through that again.?

To us that isn?t too much of a surprise, boxing is a hard sport and to have one brush with death is a bad enough experience.

However, in making his first public statement, Blackwell also had some words for Chris Eubank Jnr, using the social network site, Twitter, to remark,

?Hello bro, no hard feelings, we were both doing a job and it was unfortunate.?

It?s a sad end to a career that was heading in the right direction, but what a class act Nick Blackwell is.
