Last night, at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, London, Conor Benn was having his eleventh professional fight.
Conor, son of the legend that is Nigel Benn, was matched against the French fighter Cedrick Peynaud.
But the fight, for Conor, didn?t exactly go to plan.
Conor found himself on the canvas twice in the first-round.
However, after gathering his senses, Benn came back firing on all cylinders knocking the Frenchman down twice in the rounds that followed.
At the sound of the final bell, after six rounds, it was Conor Benn who had his arm raised by the referee with the 21-year-old being awarded the verdict by a score of 57-54.
After the fight, speaking to the media, Conor had this to say about a fight that didn?t quite go as he?d envisaged, remarking,
‘Felt flat. Lost my bearings. Bit confused. Didn’t listen. Lesson learned.
‘Not the way I planned to end the year. Now back to the drawing board.’
Everyone can have an off night, but at least the unbeaten record is intact.
