After suffering a crushing defeat in his unsuccessful WBC world title challenge, against Adonis Stevenson, Tony Bellew decided to move up to cruiserweight.

On Saturday 15th March, Bellew will make his debut at that weight when he returns to familiar territory, the Echo Arena in Liveprool.

Bellew, with a record that reads 20-2-1 with 12 wins coming by way of knockout, will be taking on Valery Brudov.

Brudov is 37 years of age and has a record that reads 41-4, with 28 wins coming by way of knockout.

Now whilst accepting that Bellew has to tread carefully, after such a beating last time out and also whilst moving up a division, pundits are questioning why in his first outing as a cruiserweight, the Liverpudlian fighter has opted to fight a light-heavyweight.

Cautious taken to another extreme perhaps!
