On Saturday night, at Wembley Stadium, Tony Bellew was part of the excellent Sky Sports reporting team.
Bellew, who recently beat David Haye to become a name in the heavyweight division, has aspirations of adding a world heavyweight title to that of the cruiserweight he currently holds.
However, it seems that Anthony Joshua is not on Bellew?s radar, with Bellew remarking about the WBA, IBF and IBO world title holder, when asked if they would meet in the ring,
?Absolutely not. I don’t need that kind of fight. He’s far too good for me.’
It?s a train of thought backed up by Eddie Hearn who, talking about the situation, added,
‘Tony and Joshua are good friends.
‘Tony Bellew has got his eye on some of the smaller guys. Fighters like Joshua are giants and Bellew isn’t, but he’s in the mix we talk about for challenging for world heavyweight titles.’
As for who Bellew might meet, the WBC cruiserweight champion further added when pressed as to whether the WBO champion, the Kiwi Joseph Parker would be the man,
‘I say Eddie knows what he’s doing.’
Interesting times ahead for the heavyweight division I?d say.
