Looking ahead, into the future, it appears that the world title aspirations of Tony Bellew are set to be realized.

Last time out, the Liverpool fighter defeated (in his second contest against him) Isaac Chilemba at the O2 Arena.

Deemed as a world title eliminator, circumstances become somewhat muddled shortly after when the champions Bellew was anticipating meeting, Chad Dawson, was pole-axed by the big-hitting Adonis Stevenson.

However, the WBC have insisted that Stevenson should meet Bellew and a purse bid date, July 26th, has been set for the clash.

Unfortunately, Bellew could then be required to wait for his chance a little longer as it is being intimated that Stevenson has requested permission, having won the world title, to defend it against the ex-IBF champ Tavoris Cloud.

But, we understand a Stevenson v Tavoris fight can only go ahead if a contract for Stevenson to fight Bellew has been signed and the fight must then happen inside a 90 day limit imposed by the WBC.

Therefore, in summary, it will happen but Bellew might be left to count the days down until he finally gets his chance!
