After what could only be described as a plodding win on Friday night, Eddie Hearn is insistent that Tony Bellew will be getting a shot at the world cruiserweight title later this year.
Hearn believes that the bout will happen in either October or November with Bellew set to meet the winner of the IBF title fight between Yoan Pablo Hernandez and Victor Emilio Ramirez.
Although Bellew, who looked podgy when fighting on Friday night at the Echo Arena, in Liverpool, is ranked #2 by the WBO, Hearn believes that chasing the IBF version of the belt is the better option with the Matchroom promoter remarking to the media,
?We want the winner of Hernandez vs. Ramirez for the IBF belt.
?He can fight any of the world champions, but that?s definitely the route. They fight in July, and then in October or November, Tony has his fight for the world title. He?s done everything else.?
It?ll be a tough task for Bellew with Hernandez having a decent record, losing just the once in thirty contests and knocking fourteen of his opponents out.
