Word has come through that the Liverpudlian fighter, Tony Bellew is set to fight for the WBC cruiserweight title.
The WBC cruiserweight title is currently vacant and Bellew has been matched against the #1 rated WBC contender Ilunga Makabu.
Makabu has a reputation of being a knockout artist a suggestion confirmed by his record which currently stands at 19-1 with 18 of those wins coming by way of knockout.
In comparison Bellew has a record that reads 26-2-1 with 16 wins coming by way of knockout, with one of those defeats coming against another big-puncher in Adonis Stevenson, when Bellew challenged for the world title.
If Bellew is to beat Makabu then, unlike when he fought Stevenson, he?ll have to avoid the big bombs that come his way.
But Bellew could have home advantage for this fight as the inference is that it could take place in early June at Goodison Park, the home of Everton Football Club the team Bellew supports.
Could that home advantage be crucial or is Bellew going in with an opponent that has the beating of him?
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
