Over in Stuttgart, Darren Barker is making his final preparations to defend his IBF middleweight belt against Felix Sturm.

Barker, who won the title off of Daniel Geale, in Atlantic City in August, is confident that he can retain his title perhaps bolstered by the fact that he knows Geale was the boxer who took the title from Sturm.

Speaking about the fight, Barker has had this to say,

?He was a great world champion but this is my time now.?

?He?s very experienced but he hasn?t experienced Darren Barker yet.?

?I?m expecting the best Felix Sturm possible but I believe I?ve got what it takes to beat him.?

?I know what his strengths and weaknesses are and I look forward to exploiting them on the night.?

You get the feeling that Barker, having progressed to world champion status, is a man with extra confidence, he knows that he can go that extra mile, even more so after getting off the canvas after being caught with a huge body-shot from Geale, but will that see the Brit become the first Brit to beat Sturm after previous challengers, including Matthew Macklin and Martin Murray both fell short?
