It would appear that Darren Barker is on the verge of making the first defence of his IBF middleweight title.

We understand that it is looking extremely likely that Darren will be defending the bet he won against Daniel Geale against Felix Sturm in Germany,

Although Darren would have liked his first defence to have taken place in England, it appears that the money on offer for a fight, in Germany, is something that he can?t turn down with it being intimated that he will get a £1,000,000 for the defence.

Naturally the Barker camp are a little wary of fighting abroad and we understand that clauses are being asked for that would ensure three neutral judges are appointed and that a re-match will be ensuing if he result doesn?t go Darren?s way.

Speaking about the fight, provisionally booked for December 14th, Eddie Hearn is quoted as having remarked,

?We are talking about life-changing amounts of money and, if we can get the guarantees, Darren would be willing to fight abroad again.?

We await confirmation of the contracts being signed.
