Over the other side of the pond, a couple of other British fighters were on the bill.

Our 2012 Olympic games bronze medal winner Anthony Ogogo won a six round encounter, on points, against Edgar Perez.

Whilst Amir Khan?s younger brother, Haroon Khan, turned on the style stopping his American opponent Vincente Medellin in just 57 seconds.

Top of the bill though was an encounter between Laurent Peterson and Lucas Matthyse

The fight came to a spectacular conclusion when Matthysse stopped Peterson inside three rounds having stuck the American on the seat of his pants once in round two and twice in round three.

Matthysse, now sporting a record of 34 wins in 36 fights, talked himself up after the fight, commenting to the media,

‘Now I know I’m the best at 140 pounds because nobody had ever dominated Peterson the way I did today.?

That is something we could find out with Matthysse tipped to take on the WBA and WBC title holder Danny Garcia, with our own Amir Khan possibly meeting the winner of that bout.
