A boxers? career can be so unpredictable.

Some seem destined for greatness and achieve it, others that seem destined for a career that looks as if it will fall just short of greatness manage, somehow, to take that final gigantic leap to attain legendary status.

Today, one boxer that always looked destined for the top and made it, has announced his retirement from the sport.

Alex Arthur who achieved greatness by becoming the WBO world super-featherweight champion has used his Twitter account to announce that he has called time on his career, informing his followers,

?Well?. Woke up 35 today. Time goes so fast, I have never fought for over a year now so just want to say I officially retire from boxing today.?

Arthur, who was adored by his legions of Scottish fighters gave so much to the sport and here at Vital Boxing we?d like to thank him for his effort, his commitment, his work-rate and the sheer class he continually showed and what thrilled so many of us in his time climbing to the top of his profession.

Enjoy your retirement Alex, you?ve earned it.
