This Saturday evening, at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, Andrew Selby is set to take a huge step toward becoming a world champion.

The Welsh boxer, brother of Lee Selby who is already a world champion, will be taking on the Mexican fighter, Maximinio Flores in an eliminator for the WBC world flyweight title.

What makes the fight even more intriguing is that Andrew Selby will be having only his 10th professional fight.

However, Selby has an impeccable record as an amateur and is Wales most decorated amateur fighter, winning, a silver medal at the World Championships, two gold medals at European Championships and competed at both the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.

As a professional he has won all 9 of his fights.

But it appears 28-year-old Andrew Selby has a love-hate relationship with the sport, with the boxer having remarked,

‘I don’t really like boxing. If I did like it, can you imagine how good I would be?’

If Andrew Selby wins, on Saturday night, he will be guaranteed a world title shot against the current WBC champion Juan Hernandez.
