The chief support fight, on the under-card at the Phones4U Arena saw the return to the ring of the highly rated Anthony Joshua.
Our 2012 London Olympics super-heavyweight gold medal winner had started his professional career with seven straight wins with all his opponents being stopped before the second round could be concluded.
Last night Joshua was matched against the German based heavyweight, Konstantin Airich, in a fight that it was hoped would push the youngster all the way.
As it turned out Joshua was pushed further than he has ever been before with Airich surviving until the third round.
Looking cool and composed from the off, Joshua took the fight to his opponent catching him with some heavy blows but always being able to move back out of punching range quickly.
Airich, looking bulky, caught Joshua once or twice but must have been disheartened when the Watford fighter simply smiled back at him.
The end, for Airich came in round three when he was put down by some crunching body-shots leaving Joshua with a perfect eight from eight.
Talking about his eighth win on the bounce, Joshua had this to say,
?He stood up, took some good shots, but it?s only a matter of time if you get caught with good shots.?
The Anthony Joshua bandwagon continues to gather pace!
And Joshua makes it Eight!
