It?s the fight everybody wants to see, Anthony Joshua v Deontay Wilder, but it is a fight that is still a long way off from being declared a going concern.
Ahead of his defence of his WBA and IBF world heavyweight belts against Joseph Parker, Anthony Joshua has given the BBC an insight into the state of affairs regarding a potential match-up with the WBC title holder.
Joshua, aware of the fact that Wilder?s brash approach to life has seen him called out, remarked about his American rival,
‘Wilder has to be realistic and stop living the fantasy.
‘If he was serious about the fight, we’d do serious negotiation. If not, stop hooting and hollering because we’ll just freeze him out.’
Back in 2017, the management teams from both camps held talks, but there has been nothing since.
Wilder seems keen to take the fight and has even suggested he?d be prepared to come to the UK to fight Joshua, but until both sides sit around the table and hammer out a deal, then the fight will remain as far away as ever.
