Female boxing is a subject that divides the boxing fraternity.
But whatever your views it seems that it is here to stay.
Today it has been announced that one of the more familiar faces of the female fight scene in the United Kingdom has decided to turn professional.
The lady in question is none other than Nicola Adams.
Now 34-years-old, Nicola is a two-time Olympic champion and has decided that she will not be part of the Great Britain squad for the build-up for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Instead Nicola has signed up with the promoter Frank Warren and will make her debut in Manchester, on 8th April, followed by a second bout on 13th May.
Talking about making the switch, Adams is quoted as remarking,
‘My hero was Muhammad Ali. I said after watching him I wanted to box at the Olympics and turn pro.’
Here?s hoping Nicola makes an impact in the professional ranks.
