It seems an age since David Price suffered those back-to-back knockouts against the ageing American fighter Tony Thompson.

But only now has startling news emerged about a drugs test Thompson took after the second fight.

It transpires that Thompson failed the aforementioned drugs test but the revelation can only now be revealed after a lengthy legal battle.

Reports we stumbled upon infer that Thompson tested positive for the banned substance hydrochlorothiazide.

Thompson, on the back of the revelation has been banned for eighteen months by the British Boxing Board of Control, but one can only guess how Price must be feeling.

After losing his unbeaten record against Thompson in their first fight, Price vowed to get revenge and agreed to take-on Thompson a second time, only to get knocked out again.

After the second defeat, way back in 2013, Price was torn between giving up on the sport he?d graced but after much consideration decided to plough on, stringing together some wins until he recently lost a European heavyweight title fight against Teper.

Quite why this situation was allowed to fester for all this time remains questionable.

As for Thompson?s 18-month ban, to me it should be the end of his career.
